    Washington, DC is home to some of the country's most compelling storytellers.This summer, Studio Acting Conservatory invites you to become one of them.

    SAC's Summer 2026 Conservatory Classes run June 8 through August 4 and meet twice weekly — giving you a concentrated, immersive training experience without leaving the city. Whether you have never stepped onstage or you are a working actor looking to sharpen your craft, there is a class in this schedule for you. No prerequisites. No audition required. Just show up ready to work during the 8-week period. For some classes, rehearsal will be required outside of class, and students have 24/7 access to our studios!

    Build your foundation. Actor's Process is designed for students with minimal or no prior experience. You will develop self-awareness, creative imagination, improvisational skills, and the use of your body and voice — culminating in an individual monologue.

    Principles of Realism — Section 1

    Develop a rigorous approach to text through stimulus-response, motivation, characterization, interplay, and subtext. Work moves from pantomime and improvisation exercises into full scene work on a character from a realistic play. Recommended pairing: Movement 1.

    Develop the fundamentals of vocal performance — projection, quality, range, energy, and expressiveness — through relaxation exercises and physical work. A strong complement to any acting class.

    Expand your range of physical, vocal, and emotional expression through playful ensemble exercises. Learn to trust your creative impulses, develop spontaneity, and build real connection with other actors.

    Learn to release tension, develop free movement, and expand your physical potential onstage. Covers specific work on posture, gesture, and expressive movement. Recommended pairing: Principles of Realism.

    Learn the nuts and bolts of auditioning for professional work. Build a repertoire of contemporary and classical material, develop cold-reading and self-taping skills, and gain a working knowledge of headshots, resumes, and the business side of acting.

    The summer semester is one of SAC's most intensive and rewarding training experiences, with classes meeting twice weekly for maximum momentum.
